Meet Our Founder

Hal Sandy was the brilliant mind behind Sandy, Inc. and a proud Prairie Village, KS resident. He was credited for creating the “smiling Jayhawk” as a KU journalism student in 1946. Hal even said that he only made one version of this iconic symbol of the University of Kansas’ current Kansas Jayhawks, and it was the only cartoon he ever drew.  

In 1952, Hal founded Hal Sandy Associates, a marketing and advertising agency. He then sold the business in the mid-70s. From then on, we took the name “Sandy, Inc.” and evolved into the retail display manufacturing company known today for delivering high-quality merchandising display solutions, powered by strong inhouse manufacturing and a passion for creating every innovative retail display.
